How to get more views on TikTok

Views on TikTok come from one place: the For You feed. TikTok shows every new video to a small group of people first. If that group watches, finishes, likes, or shares, the video goes to a bigger group (TikTok Help, How TikTok recommends content). If they scroll past, it stops.

That means views are about the video, not about your account. Follower count is not a direct ranking signal (TikTok Help). A video with 0 views, or a video stuck at 200, failed the first test or never took it.

This guide explains that test, why views sit at 0 or stay low, why they drop after a hit, and what to change on the next video.

How TikTok decides who sees your video

The TikTok help page on recommendations lists what the feed looks at. First, how people interact: likes, comments, shares, follows, watch time, whether they finish the video, and whether they skip it. Second, the video itself: sounds, captions, hashtags and effects. Third, account and device settings, which count for less.

Each video is tested with a small group first. If that group reacts well, TikTok shows it to more people. This repeats as long as the numbers hold up.

Two things follow from this. A video is judged on its own, not on your last one. And the first few seconds matter more than anything else, because a skip is a signal too.

Why are my TikTok views so low

Low views, say under a few hundred, usually means the test group scrolled past. Here are the causes we see most, in order.

The hook is slow. The video starts with a greeting, a logo, or a wide shot. By the time the point arrives, the test group has left. The fix is to open on the result or the surprise.

The video is too long for what it says. The feed watches whether people finish. A 40-second video that could be 12 seconds gets abandoned at second 15. Cut it down until nothing can be removed.

Nobody can tell what it is about. No caption, no on-screen text, no keywords. TikTok reads captions and sounds to decide who to test it on (TikTok Help). A vague video gets tested on the wrong people.

The topic changes every video. The feed learns who likes your videos. If each one is on a new subject, it has to start over.

You are judging by views alone. A video with 300 views and 30 shares beat one with 1,000 views and no shares. Shares tell the feed to push it. Look at shares and finishes, not just the view count.

TikTok 0 views: what it means and what to do

A video at 0 views is a different problem from a video at 200. Zero usually means the video is not being shown at all. TikTok says videos under review get 0 views until the check finishes (TikTok Help, Content violations and bans).

If a video sits at 0 for more than a day and the account is public, wait a little longer before you touch it. Deleting a video under review and posting it again starts the review over.

Watch out: do not delete and repost a video that got 0 views. If it was under review, you have just reset the clock. If it was not, the second copy is now a duplicate.

Why did my TikTok views drop

A drop after a viral run feels like punishment. It is not. Each video is ranked on its own (TikTok Help). A video that got 500,000 views does not lift the next one. The next one takes the same small test as every other video.

So a big video followed by a normal one is the normal pattern. The account did not break. If the drop lasts across ten videos, look at the causes in the low views section above, not at the algorithm.

Views also drop when you change what you post. The people who watched the hit came for that topic. A different topic gets tested on them and fails.

How to get more views on your next TikTok

1. Hook in the first second. Show the end result, the mess, or the question. Say the point out loud in the first line.
2. Keep it short. Cut until people have a real chance to finish. Short videos are easier to finish, and finishing is a signal.
3. Loop the ending. End on a frame that matches the start. Some viewers watch twice without meaning to.
4. Add captions and on-screen text. Many people watch with sound off. Text keeps them.

6. Use a trending sound while it is rising. Not after it peaks.

How to get more views on TikTok after posting

Once a video is up, most of the result is decided. But a few things still help.

Reply to every early comment. Comments are an interaction signal, and a video reply makes a second video from the first.

Do not edit the caption in the first hours. Let the test run on the version you posted.

Do not delete and repost. The second copy is a duplicate and often does worse.

If the video matters, use Promote. The TikTok help page on Promote describes it as the official way to pay TikTok to show a video to more people. That is the one paid route that runs inside the For You feed.

Paid views: Promote and bought views

There are two ways to pay for views, and they do different things.

Promote is TikTok’s own tool. You pay TikTok, and it puts the video in front of more people through the feed (TikTok Help, Use Promote). Those people can watch, skip, like, or follow like anyone else.

A routine for the next 30 days

• Post at least three videos a week on one topic.
• Open every video on the point. No greeting, no logo.
• Write a caption someone could search for.
• Reply to comments with a video within the first day.
• Note the views of each video after 48 hours. Look for the pattern in your best three.
• If a video sits at 0 for a day, wait. Do not repost.
