How to use this free TikTok follower counter
The whole thing takes about ten seconds.
- 1Copy the username
Open the profile in TikTok and copy the handle under the profile photo. Copying beats typing, because one wrong letter gives you a different account.
- 2Paste and press check
Drop it in the box at the top of this page. Leave the @ on or take it off, both work.
- 3Read the count
You get the exact follower count for that profile. The photo, handle and bio sit above it, so you can tell it is the right account.
- 4Check again later
Come back in an hour and run the same username. The difference between the two numbers is your real growth for that hour.
How to see your exact follower count in the TikTok app
Your profile shows your follower count next to Following and Likes. Above 10,000 the app rounds it, so you see 12.3K and not the full number. For your own account, the full figure is inside the analytics (TikTok Help).
- 1Open your profile
Tap Profile at the bottom right of the TikTok app. The rounded follower count is near the top.
- 2Open TikTok Studio
Tap the menu at the top right and pick TikTok Studio. On some accounts it sits under Creator tools, then Analytics.
- 3Tap the Followers tab
This view shows your total followers and how the total changed over the period you pick.
That only works for your own account. For anybody else, use the counter at the top of this page. For Instagram accounts, use the Instagram follower counter.
What a live TikTok follower count really means
Plenty of sites promise a live TikTok follower count that ticks up in real time. Be a little careful with that word. TikTok does not stream follower events to the public.
What every counter actually does is read the profile and repeat the number. Some do it again automatically every few seconds so the digits appear to move. Ours reads it when you ask. Same source, same figure, less theatre.

Why a TikTok follower count looks wrong or is not updating
A count that looks off is rarely a bug. It is nearly always one of these four things.

Why people watch their follower count
It is not only vanity. Two TikTok features open up around set follower numbers, so the count shapes what you are allowed to do.
The first line is TikTok LIVE. TikTok publishes an age rule of 18 or older, not a follower number (TikTok Help). The number creators report is 1,000 followers, and below it the LIVE option usually does not show. That is why checking the count becomes a daily habit around 800. The second line is money. The Creator Rewards Program asks for 10,000 followers and 100,000 video views in the previous 30 days (TikTok Creator Academy). Notice that the second half has nothing to do with followers. A big follower list with quiet videos does not qualify, which catches a lot of people out. How to track a TikTok follower count over time
This page has no TikTok follower count history and no graph. You can still track any public account by hand, and it takes a minute a day.
- Check the same username at the same time each day.
- Write the number down in a note or a sheet, with the date next to it.
- Subtract yesterday from today. That is the real daily growth.

How to check the follower count of a creator like James Charles
Many people use a TikTok follower counter to watch one big creator. Type the handle, not the name. Here are a few that people look up often.

We do not print their counts, because any number would be stale within the hour. Fan and copycat accounts use close spellings, so look at the photo and bio in the result before you trust it.
When the count will not load
Almost every failed check comes down to something small. Run through this list before you decide the tool is broken.
- The account is public, not private.
- The username is spelled exactly right, including dots and underscores.
- You typed the username, not the display name shown in bold.
- The account still exists and has not been renamed.
What to do with the number
A follower count gets useful when you compare it to something. Compare it to last week and you learn whether your posting is working. Compare it to an account in your niche and you learn what a realistic month looks like. Compare it to your views and you learn whether your followers are watching.
