How many followers do you need to go live on TikTok? TikTok’s own help pages do not print a number. What TikTok publishes is an age rule. You must be 18 or older to go LIVE, and 18 or older to send or receive Gifts (TikTok Help). Some regions apply their own rules on top.

The follower number everyone quotes is 1,000. It is not on TikTok’s help pages. It comes from creators and from guides such as Agorapulse, and it has held steady for years. Below 1,000, the LIVE option usually does not appear when you tap the plus button.

There are exceptions. TikTok says it can grant LIVE access at its discretion, based on account standing and content. In 2025 and 2026, some accounts with far fewer followers have been invited through a LIVE incentive program. Reports mention accounts with around 50 followers. You cannot apply for that. It is an invitation.

What TikTok publishes about LIVE

TikTok’s help pages on LIVE list rules, but none of them is a follower count. Here is what is official, from TikTok Help’s pages on what TikTok LIVE is and on age requirements:

• You must be 18 or older to go LIVE.
• You must be 18 or older to send or receive Gifts.
• Your account must be in good standing, with no recent Community Guidelines violations.
• LIVE must be available in your region. Some regions apply their own rules.
• TikTok Lite does not support going LIVE.
• TikTok can grant or limit LIVE access at its discretion.

That last point is why the follower number is fuzzy. TikTok keeps the right to decide who gets LIVE, so it never commits to a number in writing.

What creators report: the 1,000 follower rule

Ask anyone who has been on TikTok for a while and they will say 1,000 followers. Agorapulse’s 2026 guide says the same, and creator reports agree. When an account crosses 1,000 followers, the LIVE option appears in the camera screen.

This is the practical rule. Treat it as the target, and treat the invitations as a lucky break.

How to check if you can go LIVE

1. Open TikTok and tap the plus button at the bottom.
2. Swipe through the options at the bottom of the camera screen.
3. Look for LIVE next to Photo, Video and the other modes.

If LIVE is there, you have access. If it is not, you do not have it yet. There is no setting to turn it on and no form to fill in. The option arrives on its own when TikTok decides your account qualifies.

Tip: check again the day you pass 1,000 followers, and after each app update. Also confirm your birthday is set correctly. An account with an under-18 birthday will not see LIVE at any follower count (TikTok Help).

Can you go live on TikTok with 100 or 500 followers?

Usually not. The reported threshold is 1,000, and 100 or 500 is below it. The plus button will show Photo and Video but not LIVE.

The exception is an invitation. TikTok has invited some small accounts to LIVE through an incentive program, and reports mention accounts with around 50 followers. If that happens, you get a notification and the LIVE option appears. You cannot request it.

Joining someone else’s LIVE as a guest does not get around the rule either. The reported requirement is 1,000 followers for the guest as well as the host.

How to get to 1,000 followers

Most people searching this are somewhere between 100 and 900 followers. The gap closes fastest with videos, not tricks.

Buying followers to reach the number: the honest version

Here is the direct answer, because we sell followers and people ask us this a lot.

At GetLikes, TikTok followers start at 100 for $3.95. They count toward the follower number shown on your profile. That is the number TikTok appears to check, based on creator reports. So yes, if you are at 900 and buy 100, your profile will show 1,000.

What we do not know: whether TikTok checks anything beyond the count before it turns LIVE on. TikTok does not publish the rule, and it says access is at its discretion (TikTok Help). We cannot promise LIVE will appear.

What we do know: bought followers break TikTok’s terms. TikTok can remove them. When it does, your count drops back, and the LIVE option can go with it. We refill for free if your count falls below what you paid for, but a refill is not a fix for a rule you are bending.

Our advice, plainly: buy a small amount to close a small gap. Do not buy 1,000 followers for a profile with three videos. That profile will look strange to anyone who visits, and it will not have the real audience that makes a LIVE worth doing. Keep posting so real followers arrive, and use the bought count as a bridge, not a foundation.

Watch out: never give your password to any seller. An order needs only your public username. A seller who asks you to log in is a seller who wants your account.

What you get once you are LIVE

Once LIVE is on, the LIVE features come with it. TikTok Help lists multi-guest, moderation tools, and Gifts for creators 18 or older. Gifts are the part most people are after, because they are how viewers send value during a stream.

The Creator Rewards Program is separate. It needs 10,000 followers and 100,000 video views in the last 30 days (TikTok Creator Academy). Going LIVE does not count toward that, and reaching 1,000 followers does not get you in. That is a different bar, ten times further along.

A short routine until LIVE appears

• Check your birthday in settings. Under 18 means no LIVE, whatever your follower count.
• Tap the plus button once a week and swipe to see if LIVE is there.
• Post daily, and keep your account clear of Community Guidelines strikes.

• If you are within a few hundred, decide if a small bought top-up is worth it, knowing TikTok may remove it.

Do that for two months and most accounts cross the line the normal way. The LIVE button shows up, and you have an audience worth streaming to.
